FAQs about Bryce Book(s)

[note: this is all so very very old. It’s less of a FAQ than a trip down memory lane.]

What is the name and ISBN information about the *presently* available book?

The KPT Bryce Book
Susan A. Kitchens
Addison-Wesley Publishing Co.
ISBN #0-201-48355-6

Does that presently available book cover Bryce 2?

No, it does not. It covers Bryce 1.0.1 for the Mac. There are plenty of concepts that are applicable to Bryce 2, but no Bryce 2 interface shots or features.

Can the CD from your present book be read on a Windows machine?

No it can not. I’ve also checked into it, and though BryceWin reads Bryce 2Mac scene files, it does not read Bryce 1 scene files. The CD was created on a Mac for Macs.

What about the new book I keep hearing about? What does it cover?

The soon-to-be-released book, Real World Bryce 2, covers Bryce 2.1. Deeply. Thoroughly. With explanations that you won’t find in the manual and walk throughs and all sorts of other goodies. : ) : ) : )

Who is the publisher?

Peachpit Press

What is the ISBN Number?

0-201-69419-0

How many pages will it have?

Oh, about 764 or so (!), including lots (64) of color!

Will it cover the Windows version?

YES!!!!!!!: )

What about the CD-ROM for that book?

The CD-ROM is a hybrid; readable on both types of machines.

When will Real World Bryce 2 be out?

July, 1997

Can I order it in advance?

YES!!! Check out my on-line bookstore (in association with Amazon.com), or if you know all you need to know, order the book right now!

About this site

Formerly “All Things Bryce” this site is home to the professional consulting business of Susan A. Kitchens, AuntiAlias & Associates.

What is AuntiAlias, anyhow?

AuntiAlias is a pun on the word antialias. In computer graphics, anti-aliasing is the process of adding what seems to be blurry in-between pixels to smooth the image so it won't appear so "jaggy." The pun came about in the early days of Bryce, the 3D landscape software. Bryce's final rendering pass is anti-aliasing. On the software's support boards, I'd sign my posts as "Auntie Alias." I thought, "Hey, I'll make that into a screen name!" The 10-character limit resulted in this spelling you see here: auntialias.
